Baghdatis Will Not Defend Vancouver Open Title
July 7 -- Marcos Baghdatis will not return to defend his Odlum Brown Vancouver Open tennis title this summer. Once No. 8 in the world, Baghdatis found himself on the comeback trail during last year’s Vancouver Open when he carried a world ranking of just 146.
The tournament win helped re-ignite his career, allowing a 2009 season back among the top 50 in the world. He’s now ranked No. 27 and well on his way to returning to his former elite status.
From humble beginnings as a $25,000 women’s-only event at the Jericho Tennis Club, the Vancouver Open has grown to a $175,000 US tourney for both men and women. Besides name players on the rebound, up-and-comers like Maria Sharapova, Andy Murray, Sam Querrey and Yen-Hsun Lu have used the Vancouver Open as a stepping stone to the Grand Slams.
Roger Federer DVDs carries complete match DVDs, such as his historic win in the 2009 Wimbledon tournament, in which he broke the record for most Grand Slam victories, or his classic win over Rafael Nadal in 2007, as well as many other major title wins.
