Federer, Williams Sisters Top Draws at U.S. Open
Aug. 30 -- The U.S. Open begins tomorrow at the USTA National Tennis Center in New York. In men's singles, the top draw is the world's No. 1 player Roger Federer. The Swiss is trying to become the first man since Bill Tilden in the '20s to win six consecutive US Open championships.
The other main competitors to watch are second-seeded player is Andy Murray. Longtime Federer nemesis Rafael Nadal is coming off of a tendinitis problem in his knee. American Andy Roddick should be a crowd favorite, and it will be interesting to see how he responds to his epic Wimbledon match against Federer this year, in which he could have been victor.
On the women's side, not surprisingly Serena and Venus Williams are the top draws, though neither are seeded first. They are, however, scheduled to meet in the semifinals rather than the final, should both proceed that far. Dinara Safina, the first seed has yet to win a Grand Slam championship and her quest in the US Open will generate great interest. Fourth-seeded Elena Dementieva looks to challenge for the tournament crown as well.
Roger Federer DVDs carries complete match DVDs, such as his historic win in the 2009 Wimbledon tournament, in which he broke the record for most Grand Slam victories, or his classic win over Rafael Nadal in 2007, as well as many other major titles.
