Chile to Host Movistar Open Tennis Tournament
Dec. 29 -- Fernando González, Tommy Haas, Juan Monaco and Richard Gasquet will headline the 2010 Movistar Open, an ATP World Tour 250 tournament, which opens on Jan. 31 in Santiago, Chile.
The tournament will be held during the 200th anniversary of Chilean independence and features a multi-national field, including players from Australia, Brazil, Ecuador, Spain, USA, Italy, Poland and Uruguay.
Gonzalez, the defending champion and currently No. 11 in the 2009 ATP Rankings, won four titles at the former venue of Viña del Mar. Haas, the former World No. 2, will visit Chile for first time in his career, as will Gasquet. Monaco finished runner-up at Viña del Mar in 2008.
