Tennis Stars Raise £100,000 for Haiti

Jan. 17 -- Top tennis stars raised over £100,000 for the Haiti earthquake victims in an exhibition match before the Australian Open.

World No 1 Roger Federer arranged the Hit for Haiti charity event in only 24 hours after being shocked by the television pictures from across the other side of the world.

The Swiss star quickly enlisted Rafael Nadal, Andy Roddick, Novak Djokovic, Serena Williams, Kim Clijsters, and Aussie stars Lleyton Hewitt and Sam Stosur to play a light-hearted set of doubles, including repeated substitutions, with Jim Courier acting as chair umpire.

Aussie teenager Bernie Tomic also played a late cameo role. Spectators in the 15,000-seater Rod Laver Arena each paid A$10 (£5.68) to watch the match while a collection took another A$20,000 and Maria Sharapova donated A$10,000.

Roger Federer DVDs carries complete match DVDs, such as his historic win in the 2009 Wimbledon tournament, in which he broke the record for most Grand Slam victories, or his classic win over Rafael Nadal in 2007, as well as many other major title wins.
