2010 ATP Tennis Season Opens in Brisbane

Jan. 3 -- The new ATP season will begin today in Brisbane, Australia, where Andy Roddick is the No. 1 seed. Radek Stepanek, Gael Monfils, and Tomas Berdych are also expected be in contention for the title.

With Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal in playing in the Doha tournament, Roddick headlines the Brisbane field as the No. 1 seed. The seventh-ranked American missed most of the fall swing with a knee injury, but says he is well-rested and ready to go for 2010. His campaign will open against Australian Peter Luczak, with the winner set to take on either Mischa Zverev or wild card Carsten Ball.

Defending champion Radek Stepanek, who beat Fernando Verdasco in last year's title match, will open against Australian wild card John Millman. Stepanek could face another wild card, Bernard Tomic, in the second round.

Gael Monfils, Sam Querrey, and Jeremy Chardy will be looking to deny Stepanek a return trip to the Brisbane final. Querrey has to go up against fellow American James Blake in what looks like the toughest of the 16 first-round matches. Monfils is scheduled for what could be a taxing opener against Taylor Dent, who reached the third round of the 2009 U.S. Open in his comeback from serious back surgery.

Roger Federer DVDs carries complete match DVDs, such as his historic win in the 2009 Wimbledon tournament, in which he broke the record for most Grand Slam victories, or his classic win over Rafael Nadal in 2007, as well as many other major title wins.
